Today, we remembered the question Jesus asked Peter:
“Do you love me?”
And Jesus said to him,
“Feed my sheep.”
In other words, if we love Jesus, we should also love the people Jesus loves.
But right now, in Nepal, far away from us, many people are suffering because of severe flooding.
Some people have suddenly lost their homes. Some have been separated from their families. Many people are in need of help.
We cannot go there ourselves and help them in person.
But that doesn’t mean there is nothing we can do.

Today, Jesus might ask us the same question:
“Do you love me?”
And we might answer,
“Yes, Jesus. You know that I love you.”
Then Jesus might say to us,
“Then, care for the people in Nepal whom I love. Feel their pain, show them your love, and pray for them.”
The people Jesus loves are not only our family and friends.
The people in Nepal—people whose names we don’t even know and whom we may never have met—
are also precious people whom Jesus loves.
So today, because we love Jesus, let us open our hearts to the people of Nepal who are going through a difficult time,
and let us pray for them together.
