Today’s scripture takes place when Sarah laughed at God’s promise because she thought it was impossible for her to have a child.
She was 90 years old. Is it possible for her to have a child at that age?
God answered Sarah, “Is anything too hard for the Lord?” (Gen 18:14)
What would your answer be?
*
After God introduced himself as the Almighty God, with whom nothing is impossible, and reaffirmed his promise to Sarah,
he shared what was on his mind with Abraham.
There were evil cities called Sodom and Gomorrah, and their wickedness had reached God.
You know what? There is an interesting phrase in Scripture: God came down to see.
When people built the Tower of Babel, the Bible says that God came down to see what they were doing.
Here, too, God came down from heaven to see them—their evil deeds—and to judge them. That was God’s plan.
*
But there is a very interesting conversation between God and Abraham.
Abraham asks God, “What if there are fifty righteous people in those cities? Are you going to destroy them?”
God says, “No.”
Abraham responds, “Okay, God—wait, wait, wait. What about forty-five?
Are you still going to destroy them? It wouldn’t be fair to destroy righteous people along with the wicked, right?”
God says, “No.”
Okay, God, please don’t be mad. What about 40?
No
What about 30?
No
What about…20?
No
Okay, God. This is the last one. What about ten? If there are ten righteous people in those cities, You won’t destroy them, right?
God says, “No. If I find ten good people, I won’t destroy the city.”

The amazing point of this conversation is that God hears what Abraham asks for.
Sodom and Gomorrah were not only the places where his nephew Lot lived, but Abraham also had a heart for the people there. And God knew it.
Which of God’s attributes did Abraham trust when he prayed for others?
It’s in today’s scripture: “Is anything too hard for the Lord?”
*
When we pray for others, we can always remember: “Is anything too hard for God, the Lord Almighty?”
There is nothing that is impossible for God. When we trust him, we can lift up others to him in prayer.
Abraham had God’s promise, but God’s promise was not just for Abraham’s family.
God’s promise started with Abraham, but it was meant to reach all nations.
Abraham knew this, so he prayed for other people and other nations, because he understood that he was called to be a blessing to everyone.
If you believe you are called to be a blessing to everyone, then, don’t just pray for yourself, but pray for others, pray for other nations.
*

*
So, from today! once a month, we as a blessing are going to pray for other nations.
오늘은 우리가 사는 한국을 위해서 기도하는 시간을 가졌어요!
