Advent Greetings
The Lord be with you
*and also with you
As we enter this season of Advent,
may the love of God the Father, and the grace of Jesus, the
Son, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all
*Amen
We usually start our new year on January 1st, don’t we? So we spend the month of December wrapping up the current year and preparing for the next one—making new resolutions, writing New Year’s cards, and counting down to the new year. Right? But the Christian year begins with the season of Advent, which starts four Sundays before Christmas Day. So today is the first Sunday of Advent—our 2026 has already begun.
During this season, we not only celebrate the birth of Jesus, who already came into the world as the Messiah, but we also focus on his second coming.
In this Advent season, we want to listen to the voices of three people: the prophet Isaiah, John the Baptist, and Mary, the mother of Jesus.
We want to hear how God gave them hope in such a dark time and how they responded to him.

Here we see five candles on an Advent wreath: three purple, one pink, and one white.
Each candle for the four Sundays symbolizes hope, peace, joy, and love, and the white candle represents Christ on Christmas Day.
As we light each candle on each of the four Sundays and also on Christmas Day, we want to meditate on its theme through scriptures.

Today’s Scripture is Isaiah 2:3
“Come, let’s climb God’s Mountain, go to the House of the God of Jacob. He’ll show us the way he works so we can live the way we’re made.”
“자, 여호와의 산으로 올라가자. 이스라엘의 하나님이 계시는 성전으로 올라가자. 그가 우리에게 진리를 가르치실 것이며 우리는 그 진리대로 살 것이다.”
Advent is the time when God starts to move in our lives. He breaks in, stirs our hearts, and wakes us up.
And the amazing thing is—God always acts first. He reaches out to bring us back, to help us see our mistakes, and to lead us to turn back to him.
When God does this, our hearts can respond.
Then we can say to each other, “Come, let’s climb God’s mountain, where hope and life flow! God will teach us and show us how to live.”
