Today’s Scripture is Genesis 25:23
“And the Lord said to her, “Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples from within you shall be divided;
the one shall be stronger than the other, the older shall serve the younger.”

We’ve been reading their story—Jacob and Esau, the two brothers.
As you continue to follow their story, you’ll notice that they made many mistakes (often foolish ones).
Even though Jacob was chosen by God as a vessel to carry his promise, he wasn’t perfect. He was a clever liar.
What about his family? Well, his family was dysfunctional.
Their clever ideas and actions often tried to go ahead of God’s promise and his timing.
Here is the wonder of God’s grace.

Don’t you worry that God might leave you because of something you did?
But God doesn’t.
God’s grace doesn’t depend on who we are or what we have done.
Even though we make many mistakes, his grace never leaves us. God never gives up on Jacob, whom he chose.
Jacob was a great man.
His name is always mentioned when God introduces himself as the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.
But Jacob was great not because of who he was or what he had done, but because of God’s grace, which always comes first.

Think about you. God’s grace is bigger than our understanding.
God’s grace will cover you throughout your whole life. You are forever safe because you are in the river of God’s grace.
