Isaiah 10:20-21
“In that day the remnant of Israel and the survivors of the house of Jacob will no more lean on him who struck them,
but will lean on the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, in truth. A remnant will return, the remnant of Jacob, to the mighty God.”
"In that day..." After the kingdoms of Israel and Judah had been cut down, just like a tree cut down to a stump, everything looked hopeless.
But God was not finished.
What looked like the end was actually the beginning of God's new work. He would keep a remnant, and they would return to him.
The remnant means those who are left - those who are left alive after judgment.
In the Bible, the remnant is God's chosen people.
They are not chosen because they are stronger, smarter, or better than everyone else. They are chosen because of God's grace.

When God speaks to us, will we keep refusing to listen, or will we be part of the remnant - the people who trust him and return to him?
Will we keep leaning on the things of this world, or will we lean on the Lord?
God's desire is for each one of us to trust him with all our hearts and be part of the remnant who return to the mighty God.
